| A few days ago I remembered the last two lines of a poem I learned in 10th grade English class. The name of the poem is Invictus, and the last two lines are as follows: I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul. Yes, that sounds nice, and it encourages us to take personal responsibility for our actions, so that is good. However, I am not the master of my fate nor the captain of may soul. None of us are qualified for that job. We can be slaves to our own sinful nature or slaves to Jesus Christ. There is no other possibility. Praise God, that I am not guiding my own fate. It is still a struggle to live in submission to Him, but we are not left to rely on our own power. Even in the 10th grade something seemed wrong about that poem, but I couldn't quite articulate it. Really it was pretty simple. Well, that's all for now. |

| Check out this web page that Mark did for school: www.utc.edu/students/mark-ware. You will have to download quicktime if your computer does not already have it. Here is the link to download the free version http://www.apple.com/quicktime/player/. They seem to be upgrading their site today, so it isn't available at the moment, but hopefully it will be by the time you read this. Bethany |
